Gantsi
The administrative centre for Ghanzi District, Gantsi is a town of about 10,000 people.
Roughly 700km north of the capital, Gaborone, and 300km south of Maun, the town is positioned in the centre of the Kalahari.
The community is made up of mainly Batswana, Bakgalagadi, Basarwa (Bushmen) and Baherero as well as Afrikaaners who own most
of the surrounding farms.
Hanahai
The two small communities of East and West Hanahai are 50km south east of Gantsi.
The 300 and 500 villagers, respectively, are Baswara (Bushmen) in majority. Although there is a primary school and a church, most
households have no electricity, no running water and no sewage system and there is almost no employment.

On the outskirts of Gantsi there are many people who live in squalid conditions. These households have higher rates of HIV/AIDS and TB and often slip through the social security net.

This is one of the local church's in Gantsi. During the day it is home to the children of Tshepidi Pre School.
